The future of transit, housing and development in the Southwest Corridor
June 10, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
The Southwest Corridor comprises multiple jurisdictions and several different neighborhoods, many of which are underserved and lack sufficient resources to continue to live and thrive in the area. This puts a lot of households and small businesses at risk of being displaced, especially BIPOC, immigrants, refugees and low-income families.
The defeat of ballot Measure 26-218, which would have extended the MAX light rail into the SW Corridor (SW Portland, Tigard, Tualatin) and provided funding for safer streets, creates new uncertainty around the future of these neighborhoods.
To explore what will it take to ensure an equitable, vibrant and safe Southwest Corridor for all, you are cordially invited to participate in an online conversation, where the panelists will discuss the future of transit, housing and equitable development in the SW Corridor, and share some of the exciting community-driven initiatives underway.
Panelists:
- Jason Snider (Mayor, City of Tigard)
- Nuhamin Eiden (Director, Multnomah County Chapter and SW Corridor Equity Coalition, Unite Oregon)
- Alma Flores (Director of Housing Development, REACH CDC)
*** The event will be moderated by Metro Council President Lynn Peterson
